What's Your Signature?

Let's dabble into fashion just a bit. Recently I was reminded of how difficult it is to expand one's wardrobe (yes, somewhere in the middle of shopping, I went broke). Here's an assignment for anyone who wants to spruce up their style without buying anything. Choose a signature piece and work around it! I'll break it down for you step by step :)

1. Pull out ALL the clothes you own from your closet and drawers.
2. Sort them by type, i.e. dresses, jeans, blouses, sweaters etc.
3. Put aside anything you have not worn and may never wear.
4. Put aside anything you no longer wear or is damaged.

Upon taking these steps (and it's hard work) you will be able to see what is nice enough to wear out. You'll find things you really like or could alter to make it more like-able. You could cut an old shirt into a box scarf! There is so much that you can do when you know what is wearable. Now what you can do is look at the styles of clothing you have and the colour scheme you have. This will help you to figure out what your signature piece should be. It can range from a vest to a handbag to a pair of shoes to a cap.

Pick that one item and rock it like it's your favourite thing and make everything else work around that. Who knows? Maybe out of choosing a signature piece, you will develop your signature style. Oh! And don't forget to donate all your unused items to the needy. You will feel really good about it when you're through. Good luck!
