Product Review: Sally Hansen Hair Remover

Hello everyone!

Apologies in advance for not making a second post last week but the real world kicked me in the shins and I was unable to make a blog post. I recently made a post on waxing and it's benefits; however, I went to the pharmacy (Monarch Pharmacy in Sovereign Centre in St. Andrew specifically) and bought a hair removal kit. I'm still waiting on my waxing debut so for now I decided that a mild hair remover would do the trick. Normally, I shave my legs and bikini line or in some cases I've used Nair products. But I find that shaving always produces razor bumps and, well, Nair smells horrible. I felt like I smelled like the product for at least a day after. So I refrained from buying Nair this time and opted for the Sally Hansen Pure Scent-sation Hair Remover (for body) instead.

I was very attracted to the name of the product and the fact that all over the box was a reminder of how good smelling it would be - "Virtually odor-free creme"; "with fresh scent technology"; "breakthrough system eliminates unpleasant odor"; "93% of women tested agreed this was the freshest smelling depilatory they ever used." So I thought I had hit the jackpot! I WAS WRONG!!!!! I can admit that is not nearly as pungent as Nair products but I still smelled an unattractive odor the MINUTE the product came out of the bottle.

The bottle came with a convenient airtight pump and they added an applicator unto which you can squeeze the product.  This was easy to use and it kept the process cleaner. The remover is a cream by the way. You can apply the hair remover without getting your hands messy even though your hands will get messy when you have to wipe it off. Removing the product is really the most unpleasant part of the process.

The hair remover takes 3 - 10 minutes to set in depending on your hair type and density. I tested it for 3 minutes and it did not work as efficiently as when I let the product sit for at least 5 minutes. When I was finished applying and removing the product my skin wasn't left moisturized but it did feel smooth. So after I showered and applied lotion, my skin looked great. The packaging says that smoothness lasts up to 6 days which means that your hair can start growing back anytime before that so I wasn't upset when my hair started growing back in 4 days. 6 days is just the stated maximum. It does, however, grow back slowly and finely for me. So it's almost as if it lasted 6 days anyway. Oh! I almost forgot! I had used this product on my bikini line and I still got bumps from ingrown hairs so I'm very unsure about how good this is for the bikini line.

The hair remover costs $1465.50 (JMD) plus tax which is okay for me since you'll get plenty of uses out of the product.

You can check out the product details here. I give it 3 out of 5 stars for ease of use and the fact that it actually works. I recommend it over most Nair products but for the bikini line, I recommend Nair over Sally Hansen. I hope this review was useful.

Peace, Love & Blaze,
