One Love: Jamaican Blogger Tag

Recently I got tagged by my fellow Jamaican Blogger, Nastassian of Jabajanas to do the Jamaican Blogger Tag. She came up with the tag herself as a way of developing a link between Jamaican bloggers (at home and abroad) regardless of the focus of your blog. So let's get into it!

The rules for this tag:

  •          Title your post “One Love: Jamaican Blogger Tag”
  •          Link back to the blogger who tagged you ( you may add a brief definition of what a tag is if you for the benefit of your readers)
  •         Copy and paste the rules at the beginning of your tag.
  •          Copy and paste the questions as well so readers know what’s going on.
  •          Answer the questions (No duh!)
  •          Tag seven other (untagged) Jamaican bloggers to continue the trend. Kinda forces you to make friends, no?

 The questions are as follows:
1.      Why did you give your blog its name? (If it is named directly after you, try and make your answer interesting. eg: Did you feel nervous at all about putting your name out there? Did you just lack creativity at the time?)
2.      Why did you start blogging and why do you blog now?
3.      Do you think being Jamaican influences your blogging style?
4.      What do you think about the increase in bloggers in Jamaica?
5.      What is your favourite thing about being Jamaican?
6.      Ackee and saltfish or “ (mackerel) run down”?
7.      Stew peas or stew chicken?
8.      Tastee Patties, Juici Beef Patties or Mother’s?
9.      Pantucky or KFC?
10.  What do you hope to be the future of blogging in Jamaica?

My Answers:
  1. Why did you give your blog its name? (If it is named directly after you, try and make your answer interesting. eg: Did you feel nervous at all about putting your name out there? Did you just lack creativity at the time?)
Honestly, when I started my blog I knew I wanted to write about my journey with makeup and fashion. So right off the top of my head I called it Beauty Jamaica because it was beauty focused and written by a Jamaican girl.
  1. Why did you start blogging and why do you blog now?
I started because I had just finished University and during the job hunting period of time I thought it would be cool to pick up a new hobby. To this day I have no regrets in starting my blog because it is my favourite hobby right now.
  1. Do you think being Jamaican influences your blogging style?
It most definitely does. The things I write about are influenced by foreign culture but for the most part, my interpretation of it is from a Jamaican point of view. Additionally, the things I choose to speak about mostly have to do with my personal interests most of which are Jamaican. For example, when I talk about products I use I tell my readers where to find them and quote prices in Jamaican dollars.
  1. What do you think about the increase in bloggers in Jamaica?
I think it’s great! People are interested in communicating their thoughts to a wider audience than their friends. We’re meeting more people because of it and opening ourselves to varying opinions. I think even if someone is just blogging for attention, readers will eventually separate what’s good from what’s trash and read the blogs that are worth reading.
  1. What is your favourite thing about being Jamaican?
I’m automatically cooler than everyone else (haha jk). I think it’s the built in confidence we have and innovativeness as it relates to making our way in difficult situations.
  1. Ackee and saltfish or “(mackerel) run down”?
OMG!!!! What kind of hard question is this?!!! Ackee & Saltfish BUT if I get a perfect plate of Mackarel Run Down then that’s my pick.
  1. Stew peas or stew chicken?
Stew Peas mi fren!!!!
  1. Tastee Patties, Juici Beef Patties or Mother’s?
Well let’s be fair now. Tastee is the original when it comes on to beef patty. I used to eat one every day after school and then Mother’s brought the game changer cheese patty. Now everybody has their own cheese patty but overall Tastee Patties are the BEST!
  1. Pantucky or KFC?
KFC is not my thing at all. I hardly eat Pan Chicken either. Neither? Yeah…neither.
  1. What do you hope to be the future of blogging in Jamaica?
I really hope that Jamaican bloggers hone their skills to produce some of the world’s best blogs. And, become a great source of information on Jamaica, the interest of Jamaicans and life in Jamaica. Not only that, but I want the blogging community to start making moves as it relates to business. We need to move forward as a unit and begin to use our range of audiences to our advantage in advertisement and business collaborations. Some bloggers have started to do that but I do hope others get on that boat soon. I’ll get there one day as well.

I tag:
Monique of M*rkologie
Andrew of JABlogz
Roxy of Foxy Et Al
Kimberly of House of the Arts
Shannon & Debbie of Exotic You

Thanks for reading!

Afayah
